Where to Go on Your French Riviera Yacht Charter?

The French Riviera is renowned for being one the world’s best luxury yacht locations, with two major superyacht hubs in Cannes & Antibes with docking for yachts up to 170 meters long!

A South of France Yacht Charter is fabulous because distances between the hotspots are short, the beach bars are legendary, and there’s always somewhere to drop anchor for lunch in stunning surroundings or a swim in clear blue water. A week is enough to hit all the hotspots, but if you’ve got more time, you can head to Corsica and Sardinia for something wilder.

1-Week Yacht Charter Exploring the French Riviera

Our favorite French Riviera Yacht Itinerary goes for 7 days and visits all the iconic hotspots along the coast. Fly into Nice International Airport and transfer to Antibes—whether by helicopter, classic car, or luxury limo. Step aboard your yacht at Port Vauban.

Start with the glamorous St. Tropez. Cruise to Pampelonne Bay for water sports and legendary beach clubs –Le Club 55 and Loulou Ramatuelle. Cruise to Porquerolles –vineyards, snorkeling, and beautiful nature.

Of course, visit Cannes —think boutique shopping, Riva boat rides, and waterfront dining. Stop by Cap d’Antibes for paddleboarding around private coves, lunch at Plage Keller, and a sunset dinner at Eden-Roc.

Anchor in the stunning bay of Villefranche, visiting Paloma Beach and the exquisite Villa Ephrussi. End in Monaco with spa indulgence, fine dining, and the thrill of Monte Carlo nightlife.

Want to Include Monaco in Your Itinerary?

Monaco is an easy stop on a French Riviera yacht charter, especially if you’re starting in Antibes, Cannes, or Nice. It’s about an hour’s cruise from Antibes (20NM) on a motor yacht, even less if you’re coming from Nice (8NM, 30 min).

Why go? Because it’s Monaco. Legendary Prince’s Palace of Monaco, high-end shopping, Michelin-star dining, and the most impressive yacht scene in the world. The best way to arrive? By yacht, of course.

Where do you dock? Port Hercules is the place to be, but berths are limited, especially during the Grand Prix or Yacht Show. We can actually help you book a Monaco Grand Prix Yacht Charter with a reserved spot in the harbor and VIP access to the show and events. You can also anchor just outside the port and tender in.

Extended 10-14 Day Cruise to Corsica and Sardinia

If you want more than the Riviera, we recommend crossing to Corsica and Sardinia. On a larger motor yacht, it’s a 5-6 hour cruise from St. Tropez to Bonifacio (110NM). The approach is unreal—white limestone cliffs, a fortress town perched on top, and the kind of scenery you don’t get on the mainland. From there, head to the Maddalena Archipelago in Sardinia—deserted beaches, insane water, and perfect anchorages. End in Olbia, where the Costa Smeralda delivers high-end glamour, Sardinian style.

The peak season for yacht charters on the French Riviera runs from May to September, coinciding with the best weather and numerous high-profile social and sporting events like the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix. + The final stage of Tour de France 2025 is from Monaco to Nice!!

Given its popularity, advanced booking is highly recommended, especially during peak season or around major events when demand for yacht charters in the South of France significantly increases.

BEST FRENCH RIVIERA YACHT CHARTER LOCATIONS

Here are some of the MUST-VISIT destinations along the Côte d’Azur for a South of France Yacht Charter, including iconic destinations such as Antibes, Nice, Monaco, and St. Tropez – famous for Pampellone Beach and Exclusive Club 44.

Luxury Yacht Marina in Cannes, South of France, this is a where most South of France yacht charters begin.

Cannes

A South of France yacht charter usually starts in Cannes. Known mainly for the film festival, a sister city of Beverly Hills. There’s not much to tour in Cannes, but it’s perfect for shopping, lounging, and strolling.

Skip the public beach and get a comfortable lounger on one of the private beaches.

Aerial View of Antibes Port and Marina full of yachts. This is a popular place to start a South of France yacht charter

Antibes

A down to earth town, home to numerous charter yachts on this website. This medieval town with ramparts and towers was popular in the 20s, with Rudolf Valentino and Charlie Chaplin partying hard. Picasso moved to Antibes with his  23-year-old girlfriend to experience a surge in creativity.

St. Tropez, South of France

St Tropez

Saint Tropez is a must-stop on any South of France yacht charter. This glamorous French Riviera town is known for its allure among celebrities and exclusive venues like Club 55. It gained fame in the 1950s, becoming synonymous with the jet-set lifestyle, luxurious yachts, and trendy beaches such as Pampelonne Beach. The town’s charm also includes its picturesque old port, historic architecture, and vibrant art scene, having been a hub for artists like Henri Matisse and Paul Signac. Today, Saint-Tropez remains a popular destination for its bustling nightlife, high-end boutiques, and beautiful Mediterranean beaches, drawing visitors from around the world.

View from the Rock of Monaco of the Grand Prix race track, city skyline, mountains and harbor filled with luxury yachts in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Monaco

One of the smallest countries in the world with no income tax or a formal border. The historically defining moment occurred when the prince decided to secure a train line along the Riviera. Luxury high-rise condos, yachts, and superb food are the main attractions, as well as the famous Grand Prix car races. Get a bank account in one of the local banks (prior arrangements might be required), but definitely don’t miss the changing of the guards.

Nice

Light and vivid colors of the sea have always been a source of inspiration for artists. Chagall and Matisse actually have their museums here. In previous eras, Nice was the southern haven for affluent patrons from all over Europe. Otherwise, Nice is known for flowers, which are reasonably priced in this, overall pricier city. The abundance of flowers allowed the rise of the perfume industry, namely the Molinard family.

Take a walk on the Promenade des Anglais.

Street in Villefranche with pink houses

Villefrance

Villefranche has a beautiful harbor with an interesting history. The area was often looted by pirates and the local population moved higher up the hill. In order to “stimulate” the people to live down the city, a “tax-free (franche) town (ville) of was created, protected by the citadel.

Some of the biggest yachts anchor here. Some of the most expensive properties in France are located between Villefranche and Monaco.

The town is down to earth and feels Italian.

Cap Ferrat

Cap Ferrat is an extremely exclusive, mostly residential community on a park-like peninsula with a hidden little beach and a wonderful port of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

Visit the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, a lavish Belle Époque villa of baroness Rothschild that took 10 architects to complete.

The garden includes an English garden, a Gothic garden, and a Japanese garden.

Eze

A touristy but magnificent village of art and gastronomy, ideal for a scenic dinner with stunning French Riviera views.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the typical cost of a luxury yacht charter in the French Riviera, all fees included?

We recommend budgeting €50,000 to €500,000+ per week for a high-end, crewed luxury yacht charter in the French Riviera. The cost depends on the yacht’s size, amenities, and season. On top of the base price, factor in APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance, typically 30-40%), crew gratuities (10-15%), and VAT (usually 20%) for a complete estimate.

Which destinations are must-visits during a French Riviera yacht charter?

The French Riviera offers a mix of glamour, history, and breathtaking coastlines. We recommend Monaco, St. Tropez, Cannes, and Antibes for luxury, beach clubs, and nightlife, while Villefranche-sur-Mer, Porquerolles, and Èze provide a more tranquil escape. For extended itineraries, Corsica and Sardinia are excellent add-ons.

What amenities and services can I expect on a luxury yacht in the French Riviera?

Luxury yachts in the French Riviera offer spacious cabins, en-suite bathrooms, Jacuzzis, beach clubs, and fully crewed service. Expect Michelin-level private chefs, full water toy selections (jet skis, Seabobs, paddleboards), and high-end entertainment systems. Larger yachts may also include gyms, spas, and private cinemas.

Can I customize my itinerary during the yacht charter?

Yes, we specialize in fully tailored itineraries. Our clients work with the captain and crew to adjust plans based on weather, preferences, and special requests. Whether you want to spend extra time in St. Tropez, anchor off a private cove, or dine at exclusive restaurants, everything is flexible.

What is the best time of year to charter a yacht in the French Riviera?

The best season is May to September, with July and August being the peak months. May and June offer warmer weather and fewer crowds, while September is excellent for a quieter, late-summer escape. Major events like the Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix make May an exciting time to charter.

Do all yachts include water toys like jet skis, Seabobs, and efoils?

Most luxury motor yachts come with a selection of water toys, including Seabobs, jet skis, paddleboards, snorkeling gear, and towable inflatables. Larger yachts may also have waterslides, e-foils, wakeboards, or even a fully equipped dive center. We recommend checking each yacht’s toy list before booking if specific equipment is a priority.

What are the best departure points for a motor yacht charter on the French Riviera?

The two major superyacht hubs are Antibes and Cannes with docking for yachts up to 170 meters long! We recommend you fly into Nice International Airport and transfer to Antibes—whether by helicopter, classic car, or luxury limo. Step aboard your yacht at Port Vauban, the largest luxury yacht marina in the Mediterranean.

How far in advance should I book my yacht charter in the French Riviera?

We recommend booking 9-12 months in advance, especially for peak season (June to September). The best yachts are reserved well ahead, particularly for events like the Monaco Grand Prix and the Cannes Film Festival. Last-minute bookings are possible but very limited.

William was a great help figuring out where to go, what boat was best…

Everything was absolutely perfect! The boat, the crew and the BVI waters! The Capt., host and cook were all amazing! OMG, every meal was to die for, every island cove and tour we went on was simply amazing. I have never ever ever been so relaxed on a vacation when when I got home I still felt relaxed. I’m doing this for the rest of my life.

Nadja Asmus with DMA is an Amazing Broker

If you have a dream yachting vacation in mind, work with Nadja! She knows her stuff and is professional, kind, and patient. She walked me through the chartering process step-by-step and took the time to answer all my questions – I had a lot of questions! Additionally, I had some very special requests for my charter, and she worked hard to make them happen for me. My charter was amazing, in part, because of Nadja’s hard work, […] I’m determined to make this experience happen again and I will seek out Nadja as my broker.

Great yacht charter broker

Our yacht broker, Louis Lamprell, was available, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional throughout the process. He helped me identify the correct size of catamaran for our cruise, as well as helping me—as a first time yach charterer—understand all the ins and outs of the process, what would be needed, what to expect, etc. The entire experience exceeded our expectations.

What Do Our Clients Say?

We are proud of our long track record of happy clients, many of whom return for their second or third yacht charter with us. Our clients consistently praise the ease of our booking process, our ability to find the perfect yacht and crew match, and our responsiveness in understanding their needs and making things happen. We are here to set you up with your dream French Riviera yacht charter.
